BIRMINGHAM, AL - October 5, 2026 - Asbury United Methodist Church is inviting the Birmingham community to tune into “The Pew,” a Christian video podcast featuring the church's pastoral staff in conversation about faith, community, and what it looks like to embody the way of Jesus. Each episode builds on themes from Asbury's current sermon series, giving viewers a closer, more conversational look at the ideas behind the weekend message.
Episodes are hosted by members of Asbury's pastoral team, including Senior Pastor Rev. Mike Holly, Rev. Robert Mercer, Rev. Maggie Dunaway, Rev. Michael Bowman and Rev. Austin Lerner-Gay, with Liz Dial serving as content producer and moderator. Past conversations have covered topics such as humility and healthy boundaries in “Take the High Road,” common misconceptions about God's character in “The God You Thought You Knew,” self-perception in “The You You Thought You Knew,” stillness and communion with God in “Hungry Hearts,” daily Christian practice beyond Sunday in “The Church Has Left the Building,” and the Bible's stories of ordinary people in “The Bible Tells Me So.”
Episodes are available to watch on Asbury's YouTube channel, @asburybham.
“We wanted a space where people could sit with the questions a sermon raises instead of just hearing the answers on Sunday,” said Rev. Mike Holly, Senior Pastor at Asbury United Methodist Church. “‘The Pew’ lets us have the kind of honest conversation about faith that so many people are hungry for.”
New and past episodes of “The Pew” are available at asburybham.org/the-pew, alongside details on Asbury's current sermon series.
